Nikon has just announced what they are referring to as "the most powerful all-in-one zoom ever": the 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR II Lens. This DX (APS-C) format lens features numerous cutting-edge features, including Nikon's lag-free Silent Wave Motor autofocus technology, full-time manual focus override, stabilization, Super Integrated Coating, and internal focusing.
With this lens you can capture a wide variety of subjects for just about any purpose, and the fast aperture of F5.6 will allow you to get sharper images at a distance compared to F6.3 lenses. The new 18-300mm lens is available for pre-order for a hefty $999.
In addition, Nikon is also rolling out a new 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S VR Lens, which is an affordable standard zoom for FX (full-frame) DSLRs. The lens will also work with DX cameras, on which it will have a narrower field of view. Like the 18-300mm, it is also stabilized and features SWM autofocus. It is available for pre-order at a price of $599.
